Unified Design

Keeping everything in similar fashion can seem like a daunting task. Especially for a business that continues to expand but fails to have a corporate identity. A logo can be created in a day, but a brand takes the lifetime of the business to establish. This is why keeping unification is pertinent to customer retention and brand recognition.

If customers don’t have a similar experience from your brick-and-mortar store to your website, you could have a problem with unification. Keep fonts, colors, logo, website, and other any business-related material either relatable or the same. This way there is identification within the business, and outside of it.

Blur-Clothing

A great site for starting an online shirt shop is Spreadshirt. They allow you to upload designs and get them printed, without you having to do the majority of work. I have used their service to set up my own site. I went with Blur-Clothing as the name of this endeavor. The designs I came up with closely relate to my style of vectors.

My site is available here.

My setup

Designing requires a certain set of tools. For me it is all about the computer. For others some scrap paper and a pencil may be sufficient. My setup allows me to create efficiently because it is a reflection of my personality. I like organization and cleanliness, and without these key features, my setup would be a mess. I cannot work in a mess because that seems to clutter my mind.

Cluttered Mess

Cluttered Mess - This is NOT what I want

The following includes some of the items that I use for everyday designing (prices given are estimations based upon the time of writing):

  • iMac 24″ ~ $950
  • iPad (1st gen.) ~ $300
  • Targus Stylus ~ $13
  • Corded Mouse ~ $20-40
  • Wireless Keyboard ~ $50
  • Seagate 1TB external hard drive ~ $100
  • Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 (Standard Student ed.) ~ $249
  • Lexmark inkjet printer ~ $120-150
  • Mechanical Pencil
  • Eraser
  • Paper

The most important things, however, cannot be priced. They are vision, passion and talent. Without possessing these traits, graphic design would not be the same for me. It does not matter if you have the most up-to-date and expensive tools on the market, because in the end these traits overcome.

Apparel/Shirt Designs

I am currently in business with a client who aims at starting his own clothing brand. The name of the business is Manaray. I recently sent him a few of my designs, here are examples of some. Here is the updated gallery with shirt designs.
